This is a presentation created for the Governing Board meeting on March 15th, 2022. This shares our passion for teaching at Sierra, how our students feel, our school enrollment, the facilities, and the great things happening in our program.

this is a presentation to the school board about Sierra High School this presentation was given on March 15th of 2022 presentation can be found as a video on our web page in the about us our programs. For our students to view are schools Vision each individual student will receive the high quality care and instruction that ensures all students will attend highest level of academic knowledge and the personal skills that promotes the ceiling lives and careers our mission the primary purpose of Sierra High School to provide a quality education for students who have a need for different School setting or have not experienced academic success in the Comprehensive High School program this education is providing a climate designed to foster a sense of community where students can experience within a school setting personal recognition identification in a structured yet flexible environment let me introduce you to our core staff here at Sierra High School we are a small But Mighty team we have one administrative principle for excellent core teachers mr. Thomas and Stewart Gonzalez we have one who is Trudy is going to be retiring have a wonderful retirement we will be replacing her but it will be very hard to celebrate you we have a campus supervisor mrs. Lopez we have a food services worker mrs. Hernandez and Miss Isabel in the office we do have a one section of a resource teacher mrs. and she she comes for one math class during 6th. Romano Martina Jake Bachman both of which are our custodian J concert does campus supervision during the late one in order to know why Sarah is so successful at what it does you need to know Ry why is our core beliefs that makes each and every day to work harder and harder for a student from Mrs Henry every student deserves to be seen heard value supported and love is my greatest honor to be a part of it from mr. Gonzalo I choose dare high school because I felt that it was a school where I can make the biggest and most important impact on a student's license education from Miss Isabel I love it here I treat them like I treat my own place and when they are doing good get back on track from Mister lomeli My Town my community my people changing the I can do I will miss Jackie my why is because I see some for myself and my own struggles growing up as a daughter of immigrants in our student I also know what it's like to struggle with mental health and I was able to see firsthand how the public school system in the mental health system filthy like to close the gaps that I fell into when I was in high school our students are often times when to get overlooked or given up on our carry around a lot of baggage with our stuff is incredible we are a very close-knit family we have developed a positive School climate for all these reasons I find it to be the most rewarding assignment in my 27 years in the summer school district for mr. Travis at Sierra we focus on the needs of each student who changed lives example one of our former students came to us from grizzly transformation at Sierra and graduated more importantly she is currently an English major as a junior attending the University of California at Irvine I find every morning to be part of this year team who share the same values the lives of our students at Sierra I can pay it forward as others did for me every quarter we surveyor students and one of the questions is why do you like Sierra here with some of the students how to say create and school events and the staff about the students and how to properly teach there I like how clean the sores are the teachers help you and how nice the staff are that it was small and everyone is closer and more of a family environment you get more help here everything every teacher works hard and in case you need help they will help no matter what always help makes you pass your classes they don't stop working with you even if you have the best race everyone cares about their students well-being the staff and ways of teaching how to teachers really want to help you how fast we move it just makes you stay shs help you reach your goals teacher take time to explain and help you understand they pull you aside to make sure you're catching up and improve your grades information about her students are School specifically serve 16 years old and older Warriors for any of the following reason they might be credit deficient which things are covered with a lot this past year and go to work in the afternoon and desire has Mueller campus directions Our Moment here at Sierra changes each quarter depending on the needs of the students coming over from Fillmore High School here's how it went this past year we had 46 seniors and 27 Juniors most of us stay with us until quarter to and we added a few more students so we had 47 seniors 29 Juniors and 1/4 to ended the same time as the semester 1 and 20 more high school for back on track to graduate high school and they went back 5 of the students decided at Sierra High School was her home after a few days and it came to our school to continue with us for the remainder of the Year quarter 3:47 to freshman sorry to sophomore when freshman you're at Sierra are tight-knit family of a school has a lot of things to be proud of our students get along wonderfully as well as our teachers with their students you will often see our students smiling and enjoy Interactive Science lessons doing some art and enjoying some of the activities planned for our excellent ASD team here in the group photo week where our students left each other compliments you need check it out but they did a wonderful job of being positive for each other speaking of some of those ASP activities you can find us on Friday a fun Friday activity during activities and contests between the classes you can see some of our activities are are students of the week are College and Career day I want you to know that we have a fun time on Friday beautiful students and lots of smiling faces how many might be wondering where is Sierra High School and what does it look like well let me show you our beautiful campus our campus is located across 2nd Street from the Fillmore high school campus it's between a little league and Jamie baseball field our campuses only for full size captain's one small fry. Today so students are able to get out at 1 p.m. to participate in job or take college courses are students have great pride in the campus, is not allowed as you can see we have a glorious Squad here this is where our students eat their lunch each day and then we'll it will show you our classroom for mr. lomeli's math occasional PE and Technology or he doesn't have his graphic design in making of termination and posters and t-shirts as well we love our campus it is a beautiful place to be one of the exciting things we've been able to provide for our students this year is new furniture as seen in these pictures you can see that they have new outdoor tables that include an umbrella for shade we have new tables that are large enough for a person at the same time chairs that are comfortable and we have new rideable tables that are used as a whiteboard surface during classes we offer are they for core subject areas blessed as well so we have three math classes critical thinking math math one and a half to we also offer these Social Studies classes world history US history government for a scientist we offer a variety of three different classes in the greatest Science Biology and environmental science for our electives we generally have at least one or two physical education classes each quarter we also have ESPN what alternates are creative writing contemporary law Latino studies are in graphic design we are excited to look forward to the future and also offering are Avid classes again moving forward some of the things that we want to add to our school we do aim to be a model continuation school so some of these goals and possibilities are things that would support us becoming a model continuation school we need to work on our way to get some of our classes to move students forward on there a 3-g accreditation we want to offer more electives and Inspire students to go into the great field but I got to get to school on time everyday Community College classes and dual-enrollment this program we want to offer more field trips to call we look forward to next school year bring you back in a section of Evan each quarter and we're looking for the building of our permanent shade structure expected this summer
