I need Warriors happy Thursday March 30th 2023 today A large group of our Warriors are off to Ventura college to become Pirates at their VC pirate days to those seniors we are so proud of you make a wonderful day pick out great classes in a schedule for next quarter learn all you can so that when you join in the following you have a great first beginnings of your college experience we are proud of you young adults thank you today's announcement so I can be a little bit different so I want you to pay very close attention to these changes at Sierra it is very important for you to know that each student and staff member safety and success is our priority you are a to us you matter our staff matters so we want students to feel that's here is a place of Refuge from stress so that they can focus on their personal and academic growth when you come to campus it should be a safe space a welcoming space and not a space. anxiety for that reason we are always looking for areas that improve the learning conditions School culture and safety measures it's an ongoing project there's always places to improve District also has a Safety Committee and other committees and part of it whose members include District Personnel school resource officers fire department maintenance Etc these committees keep track of concerns in the canoe me and the policies required by law for us to follow they visit sites and help make sure that we are following the policies and ingesting to concerns you may have noticed we had some visitors here at lunch that's what they were doing we are you have a very safe and comfortable school because everyone here from students to staff do their part to make sure of it but there are some adjustments to we need to make in order to continue to that Safety and Security and organization piece that make sure you all continuing to have a safe space so there are some revisions to procedures and we are refreshing and getting back on track with some of our policies it is an obligation that we follow school board and Ed code policy is if or not we to get in a lot of trouble as a site so we're going to get strict on some things that you've already known as the rules but sometimes we don't always catch them or we have a loose definition of what they are we're going to get more firm in that so then upcoming flies are explaining the new procedures and the policies that we are going to enforce to the fullest new bathroom procedure effective yesterday students may not leave their classroom for the bathroom until the campus supervisor comes classroom to get the student why this is going to reduce the number of students out of class at the same time this will keep students in the classroom learning instead of waiting in line at the bathroom and we seeing some other time this will reduce the radio options so teachers can stay focused on our lesson this will ensure that the campus supervisor and teachers know exactly who is out of their costume at any given moment and can manage to help the student in case of an emergency like they get sick or there's a lockdown or an earthquake there are a couple of exceptions some of you may have a medical condition that requires you to use the restroom in at any moment if you have a doctor's note the school nurse will follow up with you and your doctor we probably already have it on documentation and recorded the new diagnosis or whenever the nurse follows up with doctor and parent and you will be permitted to use the bathroom. As you need it teachers are provided the list that students of students that applies to it gets updated so you want to make sure that if anything changes you're up also if there's a medical emergency example you're about to be sick tell the teacher you need to go to the nurse cuz you're feeling sick we will make sure you get to use the restroom in the office and we will have a health Team assess you and notify your parents if you're getting sick that needs to be documented that you were sick might be an opportunity that you're going to be sent home it might be that you're just fine maybe it was a false alarm but we're going to follow up with a nurse in the parent to let them know that you were feeling sick at school so how does this work you're going to ask your raise your hand ask your teacher permission to use the bathroom the teacher will radio with their name and the bathroom so example lomeli bathroom Chavez bathroom student will wait and seat and continue their work until the campus Supervisor office Personnel arrived it's going to take time if there's already kids that have been radio. It's going to take time so you got to be patient be ahead of when your bladder is in crisis mode your phone will stay in the classroom in the designated Haitian you may not take your phone to the bathroom there have been times where students were seen coming out the bathroom on their phone and that shows us that you did not follow the policy student will sign out of class and then go to the bathroom signing their student will be quick and wash their hands so you don't use the restroom in less than 4 minutes any longer and we will probably ask you and your parents embarrassing questions about your digestion if it starts to happen student will Mark the time we left I'm on the clipboard by the bathroom and walk back to class the campus supervisor will check the bathroom each time for any messes funky smells and vandalism a little bit more about vandalism vandalism is suspendable scitable by police which is a ticket which is considered an arrest students will be required to do campus clean above the area and that space and replace the entire cost of that if a simple cleaning done by the student using cleaning products not chemicals or simple repair bite down by the custodian will not fully repair the item even if the spot where the damage occurred is only a teeny small piece of the item sound repeat that you will have to pay for the entire on item if you break softening of a toilet you're paying for the whole toilet vandalism and destruction and defacing with graffiti or other inscribed material so if you break something if you could feed on it name and something whatever it might be that is considered vandalism it falls under Penal Code 594 and it defines a crime of vandalism as maliciously damaging just going to the facing another person's property including public vandalism is a misdemeanor so a minor offense if the amount of the damage is less than $400 but they can be turned into a felony and it will if the amount is worth $400 or greater remember you break a small piece of the whole item gets replaced so if that whole item is more than $400 you're going to be cited for a felony examples of things that are $400 or one of your laptop's one of our desks in the two chairs so if you put your name on two chairs one terrible would be a misdemeanor tutors would be a felony 45 textbook so please find you use permanent marker in 425 textbooks that totals more than and it's the grand total of all places that your markings might be that totaled over $400 a toilet I'm here a sink a stall door in the bathroom at lunch table a science equipment equipment those things if they total over 400 that you damaged will be a felony if you are over 18 your consequence is all your own and the consequence increases and does not come off your record that's important for you to know right now if you're about to become an adult and go out into the Air Force but if you are under 18 you and your parents will be liable that means your parents will also be a part of the citation and could get a ticket themselves so you want to make sure you're not causing that trouble for your parents other stuff about the bathrooms as always only one person in the bathroom of the time cell phones and backpacks are not allowed in the bathrooms leave your back backpack outside the bathroom or in your classroom hygiene bags permissible so if you need deodorant brush your teeth or feminine hygiene any of that stuff that is permissible just a small like pencil case size back the campus supervisor has if you mess with the pies with her if you ever need them the office bathroom in the nurses station is Master products of all time so if you I need to see the nurse you can use the office bathroom to get the menstrual products we also have other sanitary supplies like toothbrushes and deodorant and the bags the small hiding bags if you need that you can come to the office before school at lunch and after school if you need any items or you can message Us in teams laughing if you were having a medical or a digestive emergency but are not wanting to say that in front of classmates you can choose to ask to talk to the teacher outside or you things to tell the teacher and or a member of the office if we don't reply to the team's message find somebody else to message cuz sometimes we get busy and we don't see our messages even a Cassandra our campus supervisor uses team so you can even message Cassandra and say Cassandra can you help me get all right now for some policies that we are going to be a fully fully implementing dress code and we do this for the safety respect and reputation of our school we make sure that we are putting on their code switching is a professional academic Focus fees so absolutely not be covered at all times pants and shirt this must remain in place if a belt or drawstring is removed so if you would hire drawstring and your sweats fall down or you take off your belt and your pants fall down and any part of your underwear get exposed you're going to need it and Thompson who said this before tops must not be holding on for dear life so your strap should be looking lighter and stronger than a bra strap your shirt must have straps and deep plunging neckline or prevent potential wardrobe malfunction and also not allowed so you will be given a different shirt to wear as always since the beginning of time and no inappropriate images are Brands allowed so I want to clarify if you just have the name of a round but we know it's related to marijuana dispensary drugs alcohol by or passwords some examples are listed here on this side like cookies FTP Etc you will be required to change your clothes this also includes any clothing item or attachment that is visible like socks Crocs and so if you have a marijuana leaf on your sock if it's possible you're going to have to change your socks if you have a Croc charm or a backpack has a sticker on it or whatever you will need to have it removed and absolute no gang-related attire as you already know so your hats and beanies or plain beanies no logo showing only no socks to the knees with long shorts there must be a visible gap between socks and bottom of shorts no sports teams that are not either fahs rfms so if you're wearing an Fillmore flashes shirt or Fillmore Middle School Bulldog shirt that's fine but you can't work sports teams we are going back to the policy of no LA Dodgers no Steelers know no Kings all that stuff needs to stay so this includes Jersey sweaters and jackets right so anything that's going to have those logos needs to stay home no bandanas no black gloves if the weather is ever really bad we'll make sure we talked about what gloves are appropriate and then also tattoos that might have gained associations must remain a cupboard so if we know that a gang that tattoo looks like it's possibly related to a gang and we get police involved when we asked him is this related to gain then that needs to stay calm two Sofas in a visible location like the back of your hand you're going to need to put bandage on makeup over it okay there is a very strict game policy for the district and I want to give you fair warning we are we hired required to report to the school resource officer any possible Gang Related issues and it's a possible because I'm not into getting I don't know officially you're not officially so I am supposed to seek them out and let them know this is what I'm seeing and find out if it is believe it or not and it gets documented and so most things are tattoos Doodles on textbooks on papers that look like tagging we are required to send them pictures and the name of who did the doodling if we know it students group together in matching game like a tire we have to say this group hangs out and they all wear the same shirt on the same day we have to give them a list of who those students are and what they're wearing we are also required to notify parents when any of these things are coming parents have a right to be in time to pay your student your child is wearing this it's getting Associated it's not allowed anymore okay so please be advised that that is going to be strictly enforced so no extremely baggy pants extremely baggy oversized shirts make sure your  into that I know that a lot of you have purchase clothes and maybe don't even have clothes that fit into the approved policy so consider today your first morning now tomorrow we will start making calls home and telling them that you if you're wearing the wrong thing hey these pants are not going to work after spring break it'll be fully fully implemented so at that point there will be consequences in addition to having to change your clothes right now I'll make a change of clothes let parents know he's got to change clothes there's nothing really to wear but starting following week there will be detentions and and other consequences assigned this on the last night but we're going to be getting tight on this today is a warning tomorrow is going to be a warning and a phone call home beyond that it's going to be a consequence and the day after that if you've already been warned and had to change your clothes before I get to skip this gentle warning today and you will have a consequent starting take as you know better parents are also going to be get this and getting this information sent to them in paper and digitally and phone calls home so there's no hiding it from your parents what are rules it's going to be very clear Warriors have a very good day
