be Wednesday October 26th just 30 days until the end of quarter 2 all right here's our upcoming calendar We are continuing our Red Ribbon Week while we celebrate life tomorrow is Ali Raza for some students it is also our costume clue day so make sure you wear something that hints at your costume and on Friday we will have our PC application support provided during third period for those of you that are interested in applying to any of the community colleges and on one day we will have our school appropriate Halloween costume contest and I've added a new event on Tuesday the Navy will be here at lunch all right continuing on in Red Ribbon Week want to talk to you about rewiring the brain after a so as you all know addiction to drugs and alcohol does damage the brain but it doesn't have to be forever mild addictions can recover those lost brain cells are we're actually called neurons and their Pathways but it does take a long time studies alcoholism show that three people after he returned to near normal levels after four to five years of sobriety it's hard work but it can be done this leads to my next this is called neuroplasticity it provides us with the brain that can adapt not only two changes inflicted by damaged but allows adaptation to any and all experiences and changes we may encounter which means that neuroplasticity much like growth mindset means it can be and prove it can be changed you can make a difference in your brain not only relation to drugs and alcohol but also other emotions and things going on in your life as well so that leads me to our quote of the day if you haven't healed it every time you think about it and I kind of event from your past body produces the exact same chemicals in the body as what happened that means you would be these relive The Experience had its of time simply because you haven't let it go so this speaks to that neuroplasticity we want to help you rewire a name just bring so if you have something in your past event that triggers anxiety or anger in your body physically in your body it's time to start working on rewiring your anxious brain know if ever you feel over-the-top anger or rings it's something that you're calm self your rational self knows that should not make you feel so strongly and that feeling is starting to build up inside of you then it means you need to train your body and the chemicals that are in your brain does neuroplasticity those are on Olive Turi be reassured that you are indeed safe so in order to do that if you're feeling of things increase one strategy there are many one strategy is to take a deep breath in and in that moment of holding it tell yourself all reasons why you are safe and then very slowly breathe out don't let the negative thoughts come in but only positive and reassurance is why you are safe some examples of that are staying in your head I am safe because I'm at school with people that care I am safe because that is only a sound and not an action it's important than his own so you can also hug yourself or reassure your inner voice that you are indeed okay that is 1 strategies to help retrain your brain to not react so strongly to something triggers as a reminder senior cyber High keep working on it December 2nd is the absolute deadline it will be here faster than you realize because there's a lot of holidays coming Miss Jackie will be here on Saturday if you want to see you need to reach out to her and let her know you want to be here cuz otherwise she will be locked in the gate and not let you went so message her now that you wanted to be here on Saturday to work on your cyber high and get it done Warriors have a 1 for Wednesday
